Information you find on various breeders websites and in Facebook groups may not be good quality information, so here are resources that you can trust.

Here is an invaluable resource for nearly any situation or question you may run into with goats, published by Onion Creek Ranch. I cannot stress enough how helpful these articles are. Another resource that is of great help is the Maryland Small Ruminant Page and the articles found there.

One of the first things you need to learn about goats is how rapidly they can sicken and die from worms. Please refer to WormX.info

4. Diarrhea is usually being caused by worms, it is critical to quickly treat the underlying problem and not the diarrhea.
5. understand the importance of adequate fencing to keep your goats in and predators out. Fence recommendations are cattle panels, welded wire fencing, minimum 4′ tall for Nigerian Dwarf goats and 5′ for standard breeds.
6. Housing. You can’t do too much for your goats, but you can do too little – that’s why this is “housing” and not “shelter”.
